Vandalism Strikes Oslo’s Oldest Cemetery, Leaving Families Devastated

– It is completely incomprehensible and very sad that someone would vandalize a cemetery in this way. And especially sad for the families who are affected, says the church guardian in Oslo, Kjetil Haga OurOslo.

The police reported the incident on Saturday morning. According to Haga, between ten and fifteen tombstones have been overturned. Several of them are broken.

In addition, a fence was destroyed, the water taps were turned on and rubbish was dumped outside the area. The police have no suspects in the case.

There was no damage to Gamle Aker church, which dates from the 12th century and is Oslo’s oldest building.
