A Vancouver company, Lincoln Gold Mining, is interested in the mining potential of the Mauricie.
The company would be looking for zinc, nickel and cobalt. According Le Nouvelliste, a large wooded area seems to be particularly targeted by the company. This zone would be found in the regions of Saint-Boniface, Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc and Saint-Élie-de-Caxton.
Interviewed on the show Always in the morning, the prefect of the MRC de Maskinongé, Jean-Yves Saint-Arnaud, deplores not having obtained any information on the project. He also recalls that the MRC is asking for a moratorium so that the Government of Quebec temporarily suspends the granting of new mining titles on the territory.
