Jan van Staa thinks Davy van den Berg would be a good player for FC Twente. Tijmen van Wissing is less certain about the value of the PEC Zwolle midfielder.
Van Wissing does not know whether FC Twente should have gone for Van den Berg. “You have five decent midfielders for two positions. Then you can say: I’ll bring Van den Berg in. I’m not a hundred percent convinced that Van den Berg is just better than Carel Eiting,” the reporter explains. “You can say that you have to get Van den Berg, but then you have to pay one and a half million.”
The journalist also wonders whether a transfer of Van den Berg is even feasible. “Bruggink has already invested a million more in the budget than last year, I understand. You can’t just say: we’ll get a midfielder for two million”, he states. “Van den Berg is not an undisputed regular at Twente at the moment. What is Van den Berg different from Eiting? Is he better than Vlap? If you get someone, he has to be demonstrably better than those guys.”
