Coach PSV Eindhoven Ruud van Nistelrooy disappointed Cody Gakpo bundle Liverpool. If Gakpo is patient, he can wear a uniform Manchester United.
Gakpo has actually been MU’s target since last summer, but there has been no agreement on the price. When entering the January transfer market, rumors about Gakpo appeared again.
However, MU did not advance anymore so Liverpool overtook and it was easy to recruit Gakpo with a relatively cheap price tag, namely 37 million pounds. At that time, Gakpo became the target of many European clubs because of his performance with PSV. Gakpo scored 34 goals in 74 matches over two seasons.
Liverpool hooked up with Gakpo because they needed new energy in the attack. Unfortunately, Liverpool’s hopes have not materialized because Gakpo performed poorly.
Gakpo is goalless in seven appearances since his debut earlier this month. He had difficulty adapting to Liverpool, which happened to be declining this season.
Gakpo’s condition was later regretted by his former coach at PSV Van Nistelrooy. He said that Gakpo did not listen to his advice to stay and wait for MU’s offer this summer.
Because MU was considered better for Gakpo, but the 23-year-old player was even persuaded by Virgil van Dijk’s seduction.
“Manchester United is Gakpo’s dream, he has had a contract with Ten Hag since August. I also want him to join United – not only because it is the club I love,” claims Ruud van Nistelrooy as quoted Daily Mail.
“But also because they are better than Liverpool and have more potential to help their players,” Van Nistelrooy continued.
“But United didn’t make an offer in January so I advised him to wait until the summer.”
“Something happened and he refused my advice, instead listening to Virgil who was persuading me to join him. He said he wanted to move on last January.”
