Van Huffelen will miss allowance parents, but is looking forward to a new post

State Secretary Alexandra van Huffelen finds it “very honorable” that she has been asked to join the cabinet again. She regrets that she will leave her current post, Allowances, but she is confident that her successor, VVD MP Aukje de Vries, will handle the childcare allowance affair well.

“I did it with heart and soul,” says the state secretary who was appointed in 2020 because of the allowance affair. “And I will also miss the parents and all the people I worked with to solve big problems.”

Van Huffelen will become State Secretary for Kingdom Relations and Digitization in the new cabinet. “I think that is also a very nice post. This is a new policy area for me. I still have to delve into many topics, first do some homework.”

Program today

Formateur Rutte again receives candidate ministers all day long. So at 9.00 he first had a conversation with Van Huffelen. Then the intended State Secretary for Taxation, Marnix van Rij, came by.

The formateur also has a meeting with the intended secretaries of state Aukje de Vries (VVD, Allowances and Customs), Christophe van der Maat (VVD, Defence) and Vivianne Heijnen (CDA, Infrastructure and Water Management). And three candidate ministers will also pass by: Karien van Gennip (CDA, Social Affairs and Employment), Mark Harbers (VVD, Infrastructure and Water Management) and Micky Adriaansens (VVD. Economic Affairs).

Yesterday Rutte already had six candidate ministers visiting.
