Outgoing State Secretary Van Huffelen of Finance responsible for handling the allowance affair will not release the names of 24 officials who had the Palmen memo in their hands. She said that in the TV program WNL op Zondag on NPO1. Van Huffelen: “They are civil servants, so I will not give those names.”
Independent MP Pieter Omtzigt insisted on this. He says via Twitter: “If the Palmen memo had been followed, there would have been far fewer benefits problems and the solution would have started earlier. That is why it is very important to know what happened and which 24 officials had it.”

Last week, the accountancy firm PwC released the report on the investigation into the infamous 2017 Palmen memo, which already warns of the disproportionate consequences of the fraud hunt.
Although the outgoing state secretary will not release the names, she will check whether there is a draft report, which the House of Representatives is also asking for. Van Huffelen: “I have to see if and what exactly is there, but will of course answer the House as best as possible.”
