Van Haga distances himself from the May 5 poster of Forum for Democracy

Forum for Democracy MP Van Haga distances himself from his party’s poster that establishes a link between the German occupation during World War II and the cabinet’s corona policy.

In a debate about test certificates the number 2 of FvD answered questions from other MPs that the subjects cannot be compared with each other. “It feels uncomfortable and to me it is unnecessary. It is painful for a lot of people and clouds the discussion.”

Forum distributed the poster on social media a few days ago with the phrase: “On May 5, we commemorate 75 years of freedom.” Behind it are the years 1945 and 2020 with a death cross for 2020.

Criticism

After publication came strong criticism, including from other parties, the Israel Information and Documentation Center and the National Committee 4 and 5 May. Forum leader Thierry Baudet called the negative reactions hypocritical.

“For decades, our opponents have been politicizing the war to push mass immigration, European power fantasies and modern art,” he tweeted. “Now we say: on May 5, will we also consider the freedoms we lost in 2020/2021? That shouldn’t be? What a hypocrisy.”

When asked how Van Haga views this disagreement within his party, he did not want to go into the debate.
