PSV has stirred quite a bit on the last day of the transfer market. Just before the closing of the deadline (00:00), Marco van Ginkel left for Vitesse, while Thorgan Hazard and Patrick van Aanholt were signed earlier in the day and Phillip Max loaned out.

Hazard and Van Aanholt come to Eindhoven on a rental basis. Hazard, a 29-year-old Belgian international (47 international matches), comes over from Borussia Dortmund. There he could no longer count on much playing time.

“Thorgan is a versatile player and can handle several positions. He also has a lot of international experience,” says Brands.

Van Aanholt back in Brabant

Brabander Van Aanholt comes over from the Turkish Galatasaray. PSV hopes to hire the left back, who played nineteen times for the Dutch national team, for another season, says general manager Marcel Brands.

The 32-year-old Van Aanholt played in the youth of PSV and was often in the picture in Eindhoven. “We have already tried to get him in the past and are happy that we succeeded now,” says a happy Brands.

Van Aanholt replaces Max, who in turn is rented out to the German Eintracht Frankfurt for the rest of the season.

Van Ginkel meets Pröpper again at Vitesse

Van Ginkel leaves PSV after many years of service. The 30-year-old midfielder, who played eight times for the Orange squad and had many injuries in his career, signed for a season and a half with his first club Vitesse, which recently also veteran Davy Pröpper brought back.

Vitesse made Van Ginkel’s return official with a video full of sentiment.

“We are once again bringing in a real club man, which will further strengthen the Vitesse feeling,” said Benjamin Schmedes, technical director in Arnhem.

Van Ginkel: “I have always kept a comeback at Vitesse in mind. This club has raised me, as a footballer and as a person. It is wonderful to return now, especially after Davy has done the same. It feels like old times have come back revive.”
