Van Gerwen will participate in a special drive-in tournament next month NOW

Michael van Gerwen will participate in a special event next month. The PDC is organizing a drive-in tournament for the first time in darts history on June 24 in Hanover.

On that day, Van Gerwen will face Raymond van Barneveld, Max Hopp and Devon Petersen. It is not yet clear in which format it is played and whether prize money is at stake.

The event is an alternative during the corona crisis and is held on a large square. The spectators can see the players in action from their car. They throw on a stage with a large screen next to it.

A VIP 180 ticket can also be purchased for 180 euros. This ensures, among other things, a spot in the front row, you can take a picture with the players around the car and the windscreen is even cleaned by one of the players.

Van Gerwen may be taking action in Hanover for the first time since the outbreak of the corona virus. He does not participate in the PDC Home Tour because he cannot meet the requirement that it be quiet in the house and he did not agree with the design of the digital tournament.

The ‘real’ darts has been shut down for two months and there is no playing for the time being. All tournaments next month have already been canceled. The World Matchplay of mid-July is still on the calendar. The PDC will make a decision about this soon.
