Amsterdam

Virgil van Dijk not happy with the change of tactics Louis van Gaal in the last game Dutch national team. Van Gaal left the 4-3-3 grip to play 3-4-1-2.

Denmark 4-2 in a test match which was held at the Johan Cruyff Arena, Sunday (27/3/2022). De Oranje’s four goals came from a Steven Bergwijn brace, Nathan Ake and Memphis Depay’s goals. Meanwhile, Team Dynamite was only able to reply through Jannik Vestegaard and Christian Eriksen.

The Dutch coach, Louis van Gaal, experimented with applying an unusual formation, namely 3-4-1-2 in this match. He left the previous grip that often used a 4-3-3 formation.

Van Gaal’s new tactics sweet fruit with victory. However, the captain of Team Orange, Virgil van Dijk doesn’t seem too happy with this change in Van Gaal’s tactics.

The Liverpool defender admits that he is more comfortable playing with a 4-3-3. When playing with this formation, Virgil Van Dijk usually a duet with Matthijs de Ligt at the heart of defense. Meanwhile in the match against Denmark, the 30-year-old formed a trio at the back with De Ligt and Nathan Ake.

However, Van Dijk still respects Van Gaal by leaving all tactical decisions to the coach. He considered Van Gaal’s new formation was going quite well.

“Until today we have been training hard, with a lot of tactics and discussing them. There were good moments but also things that need to be improved,” Van Dijk was quoted as saying by dari footmercato.

“We will analyze this. Of course, we are playing in a new system. The players will of course have to do different things. But I think we showed a lot of good things. Do I like the system? Well, I still like the 4-3-3 but I not the coach and the coach has a very strong opinion about it.”
