The municipality of Waterland will hold two information evenings about the reception of refugees in the Van der Valk Hotel in Katwoude in the coming weeks. From October, a maximum of 160 refugees will be housed there, including forty single young people aged 15 to 17 who have fled without their parents. The first information evening is not public and is exclusively intended for residents of Katwoude and people who live in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. All interested parties are welcome at the second meeting, so residents of Waterland, but also Volendam residents, who will probably notice the most of the shelter. Although the Van der Valkhotel is located on the territory of Waterland, it is close to Volendam, which houses most of the facilities that the refugees will use.
