Van der Valk ‘regrets’ that Dennis Schouten talks about the incident in the hotel on Youtube. Schouten says in his show that hotel staff had shared images of him, which show him walking into a hotel room with someone. “I am surprised that he thought it necessary to pay attention to this,” says Van der Valk spokesperson Vincent van Leeuwen. According to him, Schouten’s reading is not entirely correct either.

The images are from a visit in June, says Schouten in the YouTube series Gossip. His lecture: he had met there with someone he had met through Tinder. An employee of the hotel then made videos of surveillance images and shared them, according to the Glanerbrugger.
“First I want to say that Van der Valk regrets that this happened,” says Van Leeuwen. “Dennis Schouten says that our staff has done something, but that is not correct. It was an employee of an external security company, who has since been fired. We are in close contact with that company to investigate how we can prevent this from happening in the future.”
Suprised
“But we regret that he discussed it in his podcast,” the spokesperson continues. “He comes to us with a lawyer because he doesn’t take it emotionally, then I find it strange that he thought it necessary to pay attention to it. That surprises me.”
According to Van Leeuwen, Schouten gave them an ultimatum one and a half hours before the podcast. “He wanted fifteen thousand euros, otherwise he would discuss it.” Dennis Schouten could not be reached to ask whether he thinks this is correct.
Schouten says in his YouTube series that it took a very long time before a solution was found. “So I asked, ‘What is that solution, then, compensation?’ Then I had to email an amount. I kept it modest and asked fifteen thousand euros.”
The spokesperson finds it strange that Schouten says that Van der Valk ‘does nothing’. “We were talking to him. So be a guy and tell me how it is.”
Solution
The hotel chain is still prepared to come to a solution with the presenter, says Van Leeuwen. “We are looking at the extent to which he is entitled to compensation and whether that is the right solution.”
