Van der Maat’s Journey from Regency Diploma to Successful 15-Year Career in Education

In 2004, Van der Maat made the transition to education. She taught English in a school in Keerbergen for almost fifteen years. “When I was going to enroll my son in secondary education, the director casually asked if I wanted to come and teach in that school,” Van der Maat said in 2015. “I was hesitant because although I have a regency diploma, I had never taught before. I decided to do it anyway.”
