On Tuesday afternoon around 2 p.m., a van was crushed between two trucks on the E17 near the ramp from Haasdonk in the direction of Antwerp.

The Polish driver of the van did not survive the impact and was killed instantly. Due to an earlier accident on the E17 near Antwerp East, there was already a traffic jam from Haasdonk. The driver of the yellow Delcatrans truck from Rekkem probably did not notice the traffic jam and drove into the van. The driver of the truck was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the front truck escaped unhurt.
Due to the accident, there is a lot of traffic disruption in the direction of Antwerp. The Haasdonk driveway is closed and there is only one lane open. All traffic must use the left lane. The traffic expert of the public prosecutor’s office is probably still on site to investigate the cause of the accident, so that the traffic problems can continue for a long time. There is currently already a traffic jam from Sint-Niklaas center. (More later)
