Vampire Survivors: Indie Viral gets even more content

Studio Poncle, producer of Vampire Survivors, Indie that gained ground after going viral, shared the next updates, revealing what we can expect from the game.

When Vampire Survivors first launched on Steam in Early Access, content completion was estimated to be 60%. The game had 7 playable characters, 22 weapons, 12 power-ups, 1 stage, and 23 achievements.

Thanks to the huge success and support from players, new content started to be released at a much faster pace than anticipated and the script was also significantly expanded. The amount of playable characters planned for version 1.0 of the game has been doubled, as has the number of stages with the introduction of bonuses/challenges. A dozen new weapons have been designed and a handful of new power-ups.

As of today, March 28, 2022, the current 0.3.1 patch has:

  • Playable characters: 15
  • Weapons and evolutions: 32
  • Power-ups: 18
  • Normal stages: 3
  • Special Steps: 2

Among the news are

  • 9 new playable characters
  • 16 Weapons and Evolutions
  • 2 Power-ups
  • 2 normal stages
  • 3 Special Steps

The producers also promise to adapt the game to a new Engine, more compatible with the market.

The game will also receive new challenges, relics and a new item called Arcana, the nature of which has not been revealed. Finally, a new “major gameplay mechanic” will be implemented, although the developers haven’t decided what it will be.

All these changes cost the original production, the story mode, which will be scrapped. The new game model intends to tell a simpler story, through the levels and their environments.

The planned new content is largely due to the huge success of the game, which earned the studio a higher-than-expected income and allowed the acceleration of content production, with the recruitment of new employees to the team.

For now, there is still no forecast for when version 1.0 of the game will be released!

Although the studio has revealed that the work runs at a fast pace, the new game engine promises “ten times better” performance. The adaptation should be complete during the American summer, somewhere between June and September 2022.
