Valve Warns Against Inhaling Steam Deck Fan Air: Is the Smell Really That Fascinating?

It seems that inhaling the air blown by a Steam Deck fan is a “hobby” for many owners of these portable computers (I don’t know if you are part of that group), but it is something that Valve does not recommend.

In a post shared on Redditsomeone asked on Steam if it was safe to inhale the air from the Steam Deck fan, stating that, even though it was a meme, they liked the smell produced by the PC.

Valve responded to this user and, as expected, did not advise users to do so at all:

“As with all electronic devices, inhaling air from the device is generally not recommended. Although there are no safety concerns for general use, direct inhalation of vapors should be avoided.”

“We understand this may be a meme, but we ask that you avoid this behavior for the sake of your health,” added Sandler, from Valve support. The only question is whether it will convince lovers of the unusual smell of hot electronics…

In fact, considering that I’ve never had the opportunity to play on a Steam Deck, I need you to clarify: is the smell produced by the Steam Deck that fascinating?
