Valve postpones Steam Deck launch – Gamer.no

The initial launch round of Steam Deck – Valve’s response to the Nintendo Switch – has been postponed. Instead of the machines being sent out in December, the company has found itself forced to move the shipments to February 2022.

It was Valve himself who announced the delay on Wednesday night. In a message on Steam it is explained that there is a lack of components that are to blame for the postponement.

– The launch of Steam Deck must be postponed by two months. We apologize. We did our best to work around the global delivery problems, but due to lack of materials, we do not receive components to our factories in time to reach our original release date.

Valve points out that everyone who has reserved the purchase of the machine retains their place in the queue. Those who were first out will therefore still have first priority when Steam Deck is released in February, and new details about the date and order will be announced as they are prepared.

Exactly what this means for launch in Norway is not good to say. Valve has not yet said anything about when Steam Deck will reach our corner of the world, but we were already prepared for it to be sometime next year at the earliest.
