Valve has confirmed that it has indefinitely postponed the release of Dolphin Emulator on Steam after Nintendo raised objections. In a statement, Valve spokesperson Kaci Aitchison Boyle noted Nintendo’s history of taking action against some emulators and said her company had proactively reached out to the Japanese firm. A Nintendo spokesperson has previously stated the company’s commitment to protecting its games from piracy. The Dolphin Emulator is widely used to play Nintendo’s old titles on computers. Valve’s Steam platform had planned to offer the emulator from June 2023.
