Valve confirms that Steam Deck will not get exclusives – Gaming – News

Most games will be made for the ‘normal’ PC and not optimized for this handheld PC

Games are never optimized for all PCs anyway. Ultimately, this is just a handheld PC with a mobile Zen2 CPU and an RDNA2 GPU, hardware that you will also find in desktop PCs.

You will often have to compete against normal PCs with this handheld.

Do you mean in multiplayer? That’s only a problem if you’re playing competitive skill games in multiplayer.

There are no exclusive games.

If I was in the market for a handheld gaming device, that would be the deciding factor for me. Then I can also play the games I buy for the Deck on my laptop at home.

Beautiful device for the collection, but not practical.

More practical than on the train with a laptop on your lap…

A laptop with Ryzen or Intel and an RTX 3060 can regularly be bought for < €1k with some searching and patience.

That’s still more expensive than the most expensive Deck, and (a small) form factor comes at a significant cost. A thin-and-light laptop often costs considerably more than a thicker, more powerful machine.

So you are limited with this handheld.

So I would reach the opposite conclusion: with any other handheld you are limited. The Deck has a wider range of games that I can use on other machines after purchase, in addition to being the handheld with the strongest GPU at the moment.
