Valve aims for 30fps frame rate for native resolution Steam Deck games – Gaming – News

What a completely meaningless statement.

1. Can’t guarantee them at all, because they don’t determine which games you play on it, you decide that yourself, and then you can just play games that are too heavy.
2. If you set your setting low enough, you will automatically get that 30FPS, so that again depends on what the user is doing.
3. Valve has absolutely nothing to say about optimization and certain settings for the Steam Deck, nice that they would like to work with parties for an ‘optimized’ setting for the Steam Deck, but if a developer doesn’t feel like this, you can just whistle at it.

What they’re doing here is making a statement that suits a party that has control over what comes out. When a Sony or Nintendo says this, you know that they can also force that performance. But this is just a PC, and both the biggest plus and the biggest minus is that you are in control of these things.

I also wonder how the adjustment is done, because is the 30FPS minimum in the entire game, or in 98% of the game. And how high is the high side, where is that preference? I mean I’m not negative in the thought that they want to work with developers on this, but how often will you still want to make adjustments?
