Valve Abandons Artifact Development Due To Low Numbers

After a few years of agony and humiliation, Artifact has finally been dumped by Valve for its disappointing numbers.

We said it two years ago and we’ll say it again: There’s no question that Artifact has come out the game with the most embarrassing release in Valve’s history. A promising title at the time, this card game ended up being irrelevant and neither Blizzard nor Magic had to put up any resistance. Valve attempted to enter a race with a vehicle that caught in play within seconds of starting engines. Sixty thousand players became two hundred. Despite your attempt to make Artifact 2.0, this one has completely failed.

What will they do now? In Steam, the company confirmed that they were satisfied with the changes they had implemented in the game. After years, the experience has finally turned out to be something “fun.” However, it is already too late, as the Artifact 2.0 beta failed to attract new players. And, since the results were so low, it really didn’t make sense to keep spending on developing it. For these reasons, Valve decided to abandon its job and move forward without looking back. Too bad things have taken such a sorry direction.

To finalize its work, Valve has decided to make some changes. The original version of the game will remain available under the name Artifact Classic. And its incomplete version of 2.0 will be called Artifact Foundry. Both games can be enjoyed at no cost, but Foundry is an incomplete job so don’t expect a very clean experience.

Artifact

Thus ends the story of this game, a project that had the potential to transform the world as Dota did. Instead, it only served as a demonstration of how even the greatest giant can be humiliated if they are unable to sell themselves well.
