The Valparaíso San Antonio Health Service (SSVSA) published two tenders on the Public Market platform for the construction of High-Resolution Emergency Care Services (SAR): SAR Diputado Manuel Bustos Huerta in San Antonio and SAR Quebrada Verde in Valparaíso.
HRH Deputy Manuel Bustos Huerta
The SAR Diputado Manuel Bustos Huerta, located in the Bellavista sector in the commune of San Antonio, is 68% complete in its construction. This project recently received a budget increase of $870 million, intended to cover additional costs and repair damage caused by acts of vandalism. The total investment amounts to more than $2.7 billion, and will include a clinical laboratory, X-ray equipment and an ambulance.
This new service will help relieve congestion in the Emergency Department of the Claudio Vicuña Hospital and will be the second SAR in the province of San Antonio, after the SAR Néstor Fernández Thomas de Llolleo, inaugurated in November 2022. The technical field visit will take place on September 10 at Nueva Bruselas 1150, San Antonio.
SAR Green Hollow
On the other hand, the Quebrada Verde SAR project, located at Levarte 1405, Playa Ancha, Valparaíso, involves an investment of over $3.4 billion. This facility will have essential equipment such as a clinical laboratory, X-ray equipment and an ambulance, with the aim of decongesting the emergency room at the Carlos Van Buren Hospital.
In addition, the project experienced a budget increase of $1.067 million, allocating a significant increase to civil works. The construction progress of this SAR is at 37%, and a technical site visit has been scheduled for September 9 in the same direction.
Reassessment and adjustments of projects
In August, the SSVSA received a Satisfactory Recommendation (RS) from the Ministry of Social Development and Family (Mideso) after the re-evaluation of both projects, together with the replacement of the linear accelerator and the construction of a bunker at the Carlos Van Buren Hospital. The re-evaluation was necessary due to the increase in construction costs and general expenses associated with the rise in prices in the financial markets. This process, coordinated with the Investment Division of the Ministry of Health, allowed the budgets to be adjusted to ensure the correct execution of the works.
“These projects are essential to improve emergency care in our communities. The construction of the Quebrada Verde and Diputado Manuel Bustos Huerta SARs will not only alleviate the burden on referral hospitals, but will also allow residents to access more timely and closer care. We are making progress in health infrastructure, with a significant investment that reflects our commitment to public health,” said the director of SSVSA, Cristián Gálvez López.
