Valparaíso 2024 Forest Fire Response – Chile

#CruzRojaChilenathrough its Regional Committee and branches of the Valparaíso Region, provided humanitarian assistance to the affected families, from February to date our institution has been working tirelessly to reach the families, this fire left a total of 39,528 affected. people (7905 Families), unfortunately resulting in the loss of 123 lives, the impact at the forest level was 52,166 hectares throughout the country, with approximately 14,823 homes damaged at different levels.

Our institution, through the different donations made by the community, both in kind and financial, has been able to provide assistance to 11,553 People (approximately 2,310 Families), with 22% of the total impact being families who have been given support in different lines of intervention, both in species that arrived at our collection centers nationwide, with which we managed to collect 13,300 items, including tools, hygiene supplies, toiletries, school supplies, disinfection, kitchen supplies, new underwear, water, among others. , being able to assemble kits for a total of 854 Families, these being directly delivered, in turn, thanks to the support of monetary donations, international support, support from embassies, companies, individuals and donor partners of our institution, We were able to mobilize 177 Volunteers to deliver First Aid, Psychosocial Support, Water Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion (WASH), family prevented, restoration of contact between family members, (RCF) generating great support for the affected communities.

Jointly, since 2010 the Chilean Red Cross has led the development of monetary transfer programs – PTM, which seeks to provide families with immediate assistance for the basic needs that families have after an emergency, on this occasion having a focus multipurpose, based on the fact that the needs of those who face a disaster have special needs and not all require the same support, which is why 1,353 Multipurpose Monetary Transfers were delivered between the months of April and October, in two methodologies: Cards and Transfers,

With the support of their volunteers, we were able to provide humanitarian assistance to 19 communities in 3 communes of the fifth region, Villa Alemana, Quilpué and Viña del Mar. We appreciate their tireless work carried out from February to October, for supporting their communities and providing always through our principles quality humanitarian assistance to those who need it most.
