Valorant: The new code of conduct from Riot Games

With the release of the new FPS shooter Valorant, Riot Games presents its announced community code, which is supposed to regulate the communication between the players.

Communication is the be-all and end-all of every competitive shooter. A team can only be successful if the players coordinate with each other. Riot Games is also aware of this – nevertheless, the developer regulates the communication between the players more intense in Valorant than other titles such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. With this, Riot takes a familiar path: The flagship League of Legends got by without voice chat for many years. In the meantime, voice communication can be used in arranged teams, but it is hardly accepted.

At Valorant, too, Riot has been thinking about the interaction since the beginning of the closed beta in April, the community code should be a first step. Every player has to four points confirm when he opens the new riot shooter for the first time: “Fight together, win together”, “Exercise respect and compassion”, “Protect my community”, and “Be my own line of defense”. However, since guidelines – the mostly young riot community – cannot always protect against verbal attacks, there is a possibility that Deactivate “voice chat” and the “group voice chat” in the menu permanently. The developers will also work on further options in the coming weeks.
