Validity Period for Rapid and PCR Test Results are Extended, Passenger Plane is Predicted to Rise

TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com – PT Angkasa Pura II as manager of 19 airports in Indonesia welcomed the change in government regulations related to the extension of the validity period of Covid-19 test results.

Managing Director of Angkasa Pura II Muhammad Awaluddin said that with the new regulation, the user of public transportation services, especially airplanes, could be more flexible.

“The new provisions now stipulate that the rapid test and PCR test are valid for 14 days upon departure by plane. The public has more time to carry out checks by rapid test and PCR test,” he said in a written statement received by Kompas.com, Monday (29 / 6/2020).

Awaluddin said, with this new regulation Angkasa Pura II was optimistic that flight traffic could be increased.

He said, with the new rules contained in the Task Force Circular No. 9 of 2020, an estimated increase in the number of passengers occurred in July 2020.

“We predict that the number of passengers in 19 airports managed by PT Angkasa Pura II in July 2020 can increase by around 20-25 percent compared to June 2020,” he said.

As for June 2020, aircraft traffic at the company’s 19 airports totaled 500-550 movements per day and the number of passengers reached 25,000 to 30,000 passengers per day.

For information, in the letter numbered 9 of 2020 written the validity period of the results of the rapid test is extended to 14 days.

“Showing a PCR test certificate with negative results or a rapid test test certificate with nonreactive results that are valid 14 days at the time of departure,” wrote a circular signed by the Chair of the Task Force Doni Monardo last June 26.

In Circular Letter No. 7 of 2020 the validity period of the PCR test and rapid test certificates is explained differently.

For PCR test papers or swab tests are given for a period of 7 days, whereas for rapid tests it is valid for 3 days.
