Validated aid to pay off mortgages — idealista/news

The Plenary of the Congress of Deputies validated the agreement stipulated between the Government and the bank to lighten the mortgage burden of vulnerable households due to the rise in the Euribor, which ended November at 2.828%, the highest since 2008.

The Royal Decree-law was approved by art 289 votes in favour, none against and 60 abstentions. The initiative was approved on November 22 by the Council of Ministers and is already in force, but according to the Constitution it had to be discussed in Congress to decide whether he validated or repealed it.

In her speech this morning, First Vice-President and Minister of Economy and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, described the support shown by deputies during the pre-vote appearances as “excellent news”.

“Today Congress is really doing its job by validating the royal decree-law which benefits Spanish families and citizens”, highlighted the first vice president in statements to the media in the Congress of Deputies, after defending this package of measures in the plenary.

Calvino argued that, with these measures, it aims to anticipate the negative impact that the rapid increase in interest rates could have on Spanish householdsespecially as a result of the credit review in the first part of next year.
