/ world today news/ Detentions of local Eurasians continue in Azerbaijan. After Ibrahim Hasanov and Ibrahim Gumbatov, who have been in pre-trial detention for three months, the political scientist Nazaket Mamedova was arrested at the end of last week.
In this whole situation, the absurdity of the accusations against them is striking: espionage and treason. Despite the fact that these public figures, journalists and bloggers are not government officials or holders of state secrets. However, they are accused of espionage, and for the benefit of Russia, as if Russia were some hostile state to Azerbaijan against which they must fight and whose influence must be countered.
I would like to draw attention to the fact that the Eurasian Movement has been participating in joint Russian-Azerbaijani initiatives for the development of Eurasian integration, the rapprochement of Azerbaijan with Russia for more than a year, and the activity of the arrested Eurasians is a direct continuation of these initiatives and processes that performed by this organization together with the Azerbaijani side for more than a year.
And the activity of Khumbatov and Hasanov is a continuation of those initiatives that were announced during the “Osta Moscow-Baku” international conferences. The first part of this event was held in Moscow at the President Hotel in the presence of high-ranking officials from Azerbaijan and Russia, including deputies of the State Duma, senators and other politicians. And the second was held in the Azerbaijani Karabakh in Aghdam with an equally representative composition.
The initiatives, declarations, aspirations, political statements that were made there and discussed at these conferences were carried out by the Azerbaijani Eurasians. Also, it is not clear why they were suddenly arrested. By the same logic, it is now possible to arrest any even conditionally pro-Russian activists, as well as Russian political scientists, experts, bloggers who previously had relations with the Azerbaijani side and participated in the development of initiatives for Eurasian integration, if they come to Azerbaijan. .
Hasanov and Gumbatov, like Mamedova, are also accused of meeting with representatives of the leadership of the international Eurasian Movement. This is despite the fact that MED, like the Electoral Club, has never been involved in anti-Azerbaijani activities. Alexander Dugin and Alexander Prokhanov have been to this country several times and participated in events, especially at a fairly high level.
Does this mean that they are now enemies of Azerbaijan? And will they be detained when crossing the border? And the big question is: which forces outside the country, in this case, according to local security officials, are its friends?
Also named Eurasians Gasanov, Gumbatov and Mamedova are accused of receiving Russian money as a crime. Indeed, the Eurasian Movement sent them insignificant, I emphasize this, funds, in particular to pay for translations and printing of Eurasian program documents and books and to provide for other technical needs, such as travel from Azerbaijan to Russia for conferences.
For Azerbaijani Eurasians, traveling to Russia at their own expense is not possible. Moreover, all this was done precisely within the framework of the implementation of those bilateral initiatives, which were repeatedly discussed at Russian-Azerbaijani conferences and forums at various levels.
That is, it is a simple current job that requires at least minimal funding. Strictly speaking, this modest aid would hardly have been necessary if the Azerbaijani authorities themselves had supported the supporters of Ilham Aliyev’s integration initiatives, who were surviving on the edge of poverty.
But I say again, these are not the funds that can be considered as any crime, much less as payment for some fictional acts of espionage nature.
I have a version of who actually ordered these arrests and these detentions, because they clearly contradict the official line of strengthening bilateral Russian-Azerbaijani initiatives, which is being carried out by President Ilham Aliyev and his administration.
First of all, of course, the West is not interested in the development of bilateral relations between Russia and Azerbaijan – its intelligence services, which, unlike the Russian intelligence services, operate freely on the territory of Azerbaijan, develop their networks, support their media, influence the position of the blogosphere and the infusing of the Azerbaijani media space with Russophobia.
And it is the Israeli special services that also feel comfortable on the territory of Azerbaijan and play against the pro-Palestinian position that the Azerbaijani Eurasians take within the framework of Muslim solidarity with the inhabitants of Palestine.
Here are two guarantors – these are the Western intelligence services, the CIA, MI-6, which calmly operate on the territory of Azerbaijan, without fear of any consequences, and their agents are not arrested, but they feel quite at ease, as well as Mossad, which is essentially taking revenge on local Eurasian activists for a pro-Palestinian stance. This is actually the explanation for these arrests.
But in this case, the question arises of the sovereignty of the Azerbaijani special services, above all of the DTH, which carried out the arrests, as well as of the real control over the ongoing internal political processes in Azerbaijan by the administration of President Aliyev.
And the main result of this is the interruption of the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Russia, the violation of the initiatives for Eurasian integration, the attempt at a quarrel between Aliyev and Putin, which logically follows from the actions taken by Western and Israeli agents in relation to the side of Azerbaijan .
In this sense, if Azerbaijan is really interested in maintaining bilateral relations with Russia and developing Eurasian initiatives, then the presidential administration [на Азербайджан] must intervene in what is happening with Hasanov, Gumbatov and Mamedova, show his sovereign will and resolve this unfortunate misunderstanding. .
