On Tuesday evening, June 1, in the intensive care unit of the Vinnitsa hospital from severe injuries and burns after an accident died a soldier of the regiment “Azov” Valery Almazov with the call sign Legionnaire.
41-year-old man served in the first company of the second battalion of the regiment, reported press service of the Azov regiment (to see the photo, scroll to the end of the page).
Almazov had an accident on the evening of May 30 in his native Vinnitsa, where he came on vacation. Riding on his Honda motorcycle, he lost control, drove off the road and collided with a concrete fence. From the blow, the motorcycle’s gas tank flared up, and the driver received a fracture of the collarbone, numerous lacerations, 3-4 degree burns, internal bleeding opened.
Doctors for several days fought for the life of a fighter, friends and caring residents donated blood to save the man, but the injuries turned out to be incompatible with life.
To the regiment “Azov” Almazov came in 2015, first served in a reconnaissance company, and later, since 2016, joined the first company of the second battalion of the unit. He served here and still was machine gunner.
Before “Azov”, the man already had some military experience, for some time he served in the French Foreign Legion, and the regiment received the call sign Legionnaire. In peacetime, Almazov worked legal assistant, was educated in jurisprudence.
During the service, the Legionnaire performed combat missions in Krasnogorovka and Maryinka 2017 year. During the last exit of the unit as part of the BTGR on the front line, Almazov spent all eight months on the Svetlodar arc, where he defended the border of our country from the enemy.
