Gheoghiţă announced that next week he will receive the third dose of vaccine, he choosing the Pfizer serum, with which he was, in fact, vaccinated in January of this year.
“We recommend that, as a first intention, the same vaccine time be used, but you can choose to change the type of vaccine. Personally, I will do the same vaccine time, in January, the only vaccine available in Romania was the vaccine from the company Pfizer. ”
According to the doctor, the differences between Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are related to dosage:
“We know that a dose of vaccine from Pfizer has 30 micrograms of Messenger RNA, as opposed to a dose from Moderna where there are 100 micrograms of Messenger RNA, but that doesn’t mean we’ll have a threefold immune response. stronger, because we are finally talking about the protein that results from this amount of antigen and then things are much more complex at the cellular level. ”
“What we do know is that, indeed, the Moderna vaccine is slightly more reactive, meaning that it can give local reactions or systemic reactions – fever, chills – more often than we record at Pfizer. But there are no differences in the safety profile. It is important to relate to how we tolerated dose two “, said Valeriu Gheorghiţă.
He explained that people who have had severe side effects after the second dose of Moderna serum may opt for the overdose dose for Pfizer serum. The recommendation for those who did not have increased reactogenicity at the first two doses of Moderna is that they can take the third dose with the same serum.
Also, people who have taken a dose of Astra Zeneca serum and more than three months after inoculation of the serum can be vaccinated with a Messenger RNA vaccine without the need for a doctor’s recommendation. They can go directly to the vaccination centers for the third dose which will be Pfizer or Moderna serum.
Gheorghiţă mentioned that going through the disease acts like a booster, and this is the reason why people who had the disease and were vaccinated with the complete scheme do not need to be vaccinated, but they do not have a contraindication either. According to the doctor, the authorities did not allow the third dose in this category as well.
Gheorghiţă: If a person receives the booster dose and generates the digital certificate again, three doses out of three
The coordinator of the national vaccination campaign against COVID, Valeriu Gheorghiţă, states that the people who receive the third dose of serum and generate the digital certificate again will find that the second booster will be found in this document. The doctor points out that the complete vaccination schedule will still be considered the initial one.
“If a person receives the booster dose and generates the digital certificate again, three out of three doses are performed. So practically this dose is inserted in the digital certificate”, said Valeriu Gheorghiţă, on Friday evening, on Dig 24.
The doctor noted that the initial vaccination schedule – one dose for Johnson & Johnson vaccine and two doses for Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca sera – is still considered the complete vaccination schedule.
“It is important to understand that the complete scheme, at the moment, is the one with two doses or one dose, if we talk about the Johnson & Johnson vaccine”, added Valeriu Gheorghiţă.
