Von Richthofen began his career at KPMG Law in 2014. In 2016, as part of a team change, he was drawn to his partners Dr. Sönke Gödeke, Dr. Thomas Volz and Dr. Torsten Wielsch to Pinsent Masons.
Wielsch and Volz are now with Watson Farley Williams. After von Richthofen’s departure, Gödeke, who specializes in energy M&A, remains at partner level in the British law firm’s German energy law practice. As practice manager, he coordinates a team of around a dozen professionals.
Norton Rose closes the gap
Valerian von Richthofen
Von Richthofen has successfully built up his own business at Pinsent over the past few years. His clients include energy-intensive industrial companies, energy suppliers, investors and project developers, whom he supports in the global transformation of the energy industry.
For Norton Rose, his addition marks the end of a long search: The law firm, which has a strong financing practice and works primarily for investors, recently lacked a regulatory partner for its continental European practice. Von Richthofen is supposed to fill this gap.
At Norton Rose he meets the German energy law team led by the Munich partner Dr. Klaus Bader and Dirk Trautmann as well as other partners in Düsseldorf and Hamburg. In total, the team includes a good 20 professionals.
