Only three days ago the lists for the municipal elections of 20 September and in Valenza, a town in the province of Alessandria famous throughout the world for its goldsmith craftsmanship, the case of candidate for director Sabrina Deambrogi, 43, employed and a more than embarrassing tattoo on the neck, clearly visible above the breastbone: the unmistakable symbol of the Nazi SS. According to the site of Radio Gold, a local broadcaster that follows the election campaign in the province of Alessandria, this photo, a selfie, was present and visible on the Facebook profile of Deambrogi, one of the 12 names in the list “The city we want”, one of the two civic lists supporting the candidate for mayor Alessandro Deangelis. The astonishment of the citizens is imaginable who, wanting to find out through social media faces and information on the various candidate advisors of all the lists in play, came across this image.

The response of the mayoral candidate
Interviewed by the Courier, the candidate for mayor Deangelis, who calls himself a liberal anti-fascist Catholic has always declared that the electoral campaign of Deambrogi ends here. Even if he reaffirms his trust in the “new” person that Sabrida Deambrogi had become: She has long since canceled that tattoo, an “uncomfortable witness” of a period that she now strongly denies: now in its place there is a half moon … I hope they don’t accuse her of being a jiadist. He specifies that among his candidates there are serious people, workers who are committed to the good of the city and without any judicial burden: In the list is the citizen who contracted the first civil union in Valenza and then grandsons of partisans … photo of Sabrina, therefore, an oversight? I know Sabrina Deambrogi as a worker, active in animal welfare volunteering and mother of a family. I knew that years ago she had fought with CasaPound and had also run as a candidate in a town in the Tortona area. In a moment of personal suffering, he probably found the wrong community. He assured me that he had removed all the photos that could have lent themselves to exploitation, evidently he forgot one.
Surely today that photo is no longer present in Sabrina’s profile: only a couple of her images of political appeal remained, one in support of the day of remembrance, February 10, for the Italians victim of the Foibe and another with the Palestinian flag . But this afternoon the candidate councilor canceled those too.

I am a new person
While, on Sunday, the attention on the net grew, the city councilor released a public letter to tell her story and try to justify that inappropriate tattoo that I have been removing for some time. The conclusion of the “scandal is the self-suspension of the candidate from the election race. The media attention (not the tattoo?), Writes Deambrogi, had the effect of questioning my suitability as a city councilor for the upcoming elections. There follows a story about his health difficulties also faced in the past, from which he emerged thanks to loved ones: The last months have marked a rebirth for me, coinciding with the desire to unmark myself and move away from the extremist positions that I have supported in the past. And he mentions the voluntary activities in which he operates: I collaborated with the Cuore di Zampa and Salviamo il nostra verde associations. Aware that erasing a tattoo is easier than erasing the memory of past actions, Deambrogi also announces that he has given Alessandro (Deangelis) availability to self-suspend me from the electoral competition.
