Today, the 14th (Wednesday), the temperature will be even higher than yesterday. Temperatures in Tokyo are expected to reach 18 degrees Celsius, and in some places from Kyushu to Kanto, temperatures will exceed 20 degrees Celsius. I don’t even need a jacket during the day, and I feel like I’ll sweat if I wear thicker clothes.

Spring is in full swing and the temperature is record high for February. What is the best clothing?

Today, the 14th (Wednesday), Valentine’s Day, is so warm it’s hard to believe it’s February. Maximum temperatures will be even higher than yesterday in many places. It looks like there will be some places where the highest temperature for February will be set.

Although the mornings and evenings in Hokkaido are not very cold for this time of year, down coats are a must. The temperature rises to around 10℃ during the day, so if you’re going out during the day, you might want to wear a slightly lighter outerwear other than a down coat.
In the northern Tohoku region, a winter coat is essential in the morning and evening, but a lined trench coat is fine during the day. There seem to be places in southern Tohoku and Hokuriku where you can wear a light jacket during the day.
From the Kanto region to Chugoku and Shikoku, there are places where the temperature rises to nearly 20℃ during the day, so you won’t need a jacket. If you carelessly wear too much clothing, you may end up sweating. The temperature difference between morning and evening and daytime is large, so we recommend wearing clothes that are easy to adjust.
Although it rains in Kyushu, the temperature is high, so even with a jacket on, you won’t feel cold.
For Okinawa, long-sleeved shirts or cut-and-sew shirts are best.

*The clothing index suggests what kind of clothing is appropriate based on the expected temperature in the morning, evening, and during the day. Wear clothing that can be adjusted to suit the time of day you are going out. Please use this as a guideline only, as people experience heat and cold differently.
