València will buy 4,700 protective screens for taxis
The Department of Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility will acquire some 4,700 protective screens for an amount of 119,427 euros, to guarantee protection inside the taxis, thus meeting the request of the sector.
The objective is to improve prevention and increase the safety of professionals and clients against the spread of the coronavirus.
These are removable partitions, made of malleable and transparent material, so that it does not prevent the person traveling from seeing the taximeter or identification card correctly.
Likewise, a space will be enabled on the separation screen to allow customers to pay.
The material to be acquired has been selected after having made consultations, at an informative level, with the Local Police of Valencia, the Civil Guard and the Valencian Institute of Safety and Health at Work (INVASSAT).
Minister Arcadi Spain has assured that “this measure aims to increase vehicle safety in order to regain customer confidence and thus help to restore the situation of the taxi sector, which has registered a decrease in activity of more than 80% as a consequence of the health crisis ”.
