For the second consecutive year, Valencia will host the World Tourism Film Awards. in his 34ª edition, the event will bring personalities from the tourism and audiovisual sector to the city to receive the prestigious awards and titles of the best tourism films in the world. The award ceremony will take place at the CaixaForum, located in the architectural complex City of Arts and Scienceson November 24.
Organized from International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT) y Visit Valencia, the World Tourism Film Awards recognize the creative excellence of tourist audiovisual productions. The event will honor the best promotional films in five thematic categories: Tourist Destination City, Region, Country, Tourist Products and Tourist Services.
Emiliano García Domene, Councilor for Tourism and Internationalization of the Municipality of Valencia, stated that “Valencia focuses on an increasingly digital, dynamic and personalized promotion, through which to project our identity and our creative capacity and in which audiovisual contents acquire greater prominence. This is why we are proud that the organization of the CIFFT prizes has chosen our city to deliver, for another year, the prizes for the best videos of the tourism promotion campaigns “. He also detailed that “Thanks to this gala, Valencia will welcome the best professionals in tourism promotion and we will have the opportunity to show them how the city has become, in 2022, the World Capital of Design and the European Capital of Smart Tourism ”.
After the successful collaboration between CIFFT and Visit Valencia to announce the winners in 2021, this 34th edition marks the first time that the event adopts a face-to-face format outside Vienna. Recently, Valencia has positioned itself as a MICE destination of excellence, attracting major international events. The World Tourism Film Awards coincide with another UNWTO-funded event, the 3ª World conference on smart destinations.
The open forum will discuss the opportunities and challenges of tourism destinations, the solutions they need to remain competitive and sustainable, and how technology and innovation applied to the tourism sector are generating structural change. This meeting is also an opportunity to publicize how the audiovisual industry can provide tourism income and long-term prosperity to destinations and the importance of innovation in tourism communication.
To earn the title of Best Tourist Film in the World, over 3,000 promotional videos from 90 countries entered the CIFFT Circuit, an annual competition with ten festivals on four continents: New York, Cannes, Los Angeles, Vienna, Cape and Kyoto, including the others.
The World Tourism Film Awards are supported by the World Tourism Organization, the European Travel Commission, the Caribbean Tourism Organization, the Central American Tourism Organization and Skal International. The initiative also has the Committee of Experts on Tourism and Society (TSTT, for its acronym in English).
