Valencia and Alicante relax the conditions of the terraces of bars and restaurants

The Valencia City Council and the Alicante Town Hall have released this Friday their measurements for relax the terms of the terraces of pubs and restaurants to compensate the losses registered by the paralysis of the economic activity by the state of alarm.


More surface in Valencia

On the one hand, Valencia has given free rein to the expansion of the terraces. Those interested may request an increase in the surface on a temporary and exceptional basis and always respecting the 50% ratio between table and available surface.

The processing of the applications will be carried out in the Municipal District Boards and will be null and void when 100% of the occupation is allowed.



In addition, the maximum allowed occupancy will be ten people per table or group of tables, having to exist a minimum of 2 meters distance between the tables or groups of tables, and the existing fixed awnings may not close more than two sides.


Hours are extended in Alicante

On the other hand, the Alicante City Council has approved this Friday a decree by which extend the hours of the terraces. Now they can remain open until midnight from Sunday to Thursday and until 01:00 on Fridays, Saturdays and the eve of a holiday.

The consistory has justified the extent to which this activity generates “many jobs” in the city and with the aim of “avoiding concentrations of people on the terraces and nightlights by having more hours to serve the public.”
