Sunday, the last day of the 2021 French track championship, was devoted to the 2000 and 3000 meter finals, from chicks-chicks to cadets-cadets, and the spectacular 1000 meters for adults. Halfway between the sprint and the long distance, these middle distance races demand tactics and endurance at high speed. The public was not mistaken and the Jacques-Fronton piste heated up, and not only because of the heat. The level of the finals has held its place.

Two Valencians were particularly in sight. Elton de Souza, on the 1,000 m, completed in 90 seconds, mastered a third senior title after those of the 200 m duel and the American. He offered his title to his club Valence-d’Agen Roller-2-Rives, (VAR2R) confident at the microphone: “I arrived at the end of 2018 and I was well received. This lively, agile and powerful little rider was therefore on the four sprint podiums. Victor Aerts won two fine bronze medals in the 500m on Saturday and the 1000m on Sunday.

Mathys confident, four Valencians at the European Championships
The second local skater who made the tank vibrate (the track) is the junior Mathys Roiatti who gained confidence after his places of fourth on the road, third in 5,000m in points and again third on the 10 000 m to elimination, before his second place in the 500 m. The mayonnaise was starting to take! Then the Grail was reached on Sunday morning. Finally, the national title came to crown his crescendo course in this competition. He also joins, by that very fact, the list of selected for the European Championships, along with three other Valencians: Chloé Moulis, Gwendal Le Pivert, Elton de Souza. These four selections conclude in apotheosis these five days of the championship.
