Saturday November 23, at 6:30 p.m., the Auvignon Men’s Choir, directed by Sylvie Pénidon, will make a short trip to the Tarn-et-Garonne region. The Lot-et-Garonnais vocal group, with around thirty choristers, was formed a decade ago in the small village of Montagnac-sur-Auvignon, whose mayor is Jean-Louis Tolot, former international rugby pillar and living legend of SU Agen.
This character is himself a chorister in the baritone section. Rugby remains at the heart of the discussions, but polyphonic singing now finds a prominent place. Sylvie Pénidon, choir director, gradually initiated these robust singers, transforming their repertoire and their mastery. The CHA favors churches and rural regions, where access to cultural offerings is sometimes limited. Although its performances mainly take place in the Garonne region, the vocal group is happy to export.
This Saturday, the public will discover a varied polyphonic program, for a performance lasting around an hour and a half, composed of sacred songs, Basque, Occitan, Corsican, Italian, Spanish, South African, Maori, Anglo-Saxon, national anthems and even of opera extracts.
