Valančuna is ejected after a hard elbow to Gibson’s head, Porzingis’ Wizards win

Porzingis missed consecutive games after spraining his ankle last Saturday against the Orlando Magic.

Pelicans center Jon Valnchun elbowed Taj Gibson in the head in the fourth minute of the second quarter. After watching the video, the referees gave the Lithuanian an unsportsmanlike remark of the second degree and kicked him out of the game.

Daniel Gafford scored 21, Bradley Beal 16, Danny Avdia 15 and Kyle Kuzma 10 for the Wizards.

For Pelicans, Sage McCollum scored 24 points and Brandon Ingram scored 22 points.

Washington now has 23 wins in 49 games and is in 10th place in the Eastern Conference standings.

The next game for the Wizards is on the road against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday.
