It is the entire municipality of Val d’Oust, its municipality and its inhabitants who support the child of the Caro Chapel, the cyclist Dorian Foulon. He will represent France at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, starting next Thursday August 26 …
To send a nod of encouragement to its champion, the technical services of Val d’Oust have installed 2 “funny” bicycles, on 2 roundabouts in the town. The first is visible on the route de Josselin at Roc-Saint-André and the second at the Basse Chapelle …
Dorian Foulon, 23, was crowned Para-cycling track world champion in Milton, Canada last year. He has already participated in the Tour de l’Avenir …
He will participate very soon in several competitions in Tokyo:
– Thursday August 26: Kilometer standing start
– Friday August 27: Pursuit
– Saturday August 28: Team sprint
– Tuesday August 31: Race against the clock on the road
– Friday September 3: Road race on the road.
His goal for these Paralympic Games is to bring home a medal, and as long as he does so, he would prefer it to be gold!
Its motto is “Never give up, always move forward, work always pays off!”
Dorian Foulon’s handicap: he was born with a congenital left equine varus club foot (the foot upside down)! From birth, he undergoes several operations to straighten his foot forward. Then the surgeon performs an arthrodesis to block his ankle so that the foot does not return to its initial position.
Today, Dorian can hardly move his ankle, resulting in a loss of leg strength. Dorian wears a 41 with the left foot and a 46 with the right foot.
After his operations, he receives the advice of doctors: he must practice a sport! He chooses cycling to accompany his mother who is an adept, but quickly cycling becomes a real passion for Dorian. He will never leave him …
After the Paralympic Games, Dorian Foulon also dreams of becoming the first disabled cyclist on the Tour de France!
But that’s for after… “For now, in Val d’Oust, we’ll all be in Japan, behind and with Dorian, thanks to our screens!”
