Best club in the world in combat with more than 20 world and 30 European titles, the AAS Sarcelles Karate has acquired a reputation which ensures it a wide influence and allows it to welcome foreign champions. In 2017, the arrivals of the Ukrainian Anzhelika Terliuga (- 55 kg) and the Azeri Iryna Zaretska (- 68 kg) created a buzz.
“Their coach Denys Morozov was looking for a club capable of offering them intensity and competition in training, within a dense high level group. At Sarcelles, he found what he was missing, ”explains Sarcelles technical director Daniel de Barros. Since then, the golden duo has progressed.
Each ensured its qualification for the Olympic Games in February 2020, finishing in the top 4 in its category in the Olympic ranking. In the space of 16 months, Anzhelika Terliuga won 14 medals (including 10 gold) in 19 international tournaments and won 93 of her 103 fights.
The queen of ura-mawashi-geri, followed by 87,000 fans on Instagram, thus received the title of Grand Winner of the year 2020 in – 55 kg. Iryna Zaretska became world (2018) and European (2020) champion in – 68 kg thanks to her exceptional physical qualities and her wide range of attacks.
Ambitious, Anzhelika Terliuga (29 years old) will be in contention on Thursday August 5 in – 55 kg and Iryna Zaretska (25 years old) on Saturday August 7 in + 61 kg.
