Val-d’Oise Integration into Grand Paris Express: New Metro Line 19 Announced for 2040

“I could not let Val-d’Oise be the big sacrifice of the Grand Paris Express (GPE),” declared Valérie Pécresse, president of the Île-de-France region this Wednesday, in Cergy. The department could finally fully integrate the GPE network thanks to the creation of a new metro line 19. Valérie Pécresse and Marie-Christine Cavecchi, president of the Val-d’Oise Department, came to present on Wednesday November 22 during a press conference the broad outlines of this project retained by the region in its draft Master Plan for the Île-de-France region (Sdrif) for the month of July.

Scheduled for 2040 and estimated at 6.5 billion euros in investments, line 19 “will make it possible to completely mesh the Ile-de-France network and serve the Val-d’Oise department by connecting it to La Défense and Roissy airport, the two biggest centers of attraction in the sector,” certifies the president of the region. To achieve this, the creation of new infrastructure, including 9 to 11 stations, will be necessary between Nanterre-la-Folie and the Triangle de Gonesse. Among the towns in Val-d’Oise which could be served by this metro, we find in particular those of Argenteuil, Pont-de-Bezons, Garges-Sarcelles and Ermont-Eaubonne.

35 minutes to connect Nanterre to Roissy-CDG

This line would then make it possible to drastically reduce certain journeys. A Nanterre – Roissy-CDG would be done in less than 35 minutes without change, an Argenteuil – Nanterre-la-Folie would take only nine minutes compared to 20 minutes without line 19, or even a Garges-Sarcelles – Argenteuil in 12 minutes compared to 33 minutes .

A connection would then be made at Nanterre with lines 15 and 18 and would directly connect the La Défense hub to Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport by connecting to line 17, at Gonesse du Grand station. Paris Express, currently under construction. Other connections would also be possible with RER B, C, D, and E, trains H, J and L, and finally trams T1, T2, T5 and T11.

Finally, another link between the municipalities of Argenteuil and Cergy is also envisaged by the department and the region thanks to the creation of a high level of service bus line (Bhns).
