A 13-year-old girl died on Monday in a fire that broke out in a nine-story building in Garges-lès-Gonesse (Val-d’Oise).
During the evacuation of the occupants of the building, a young girl “was missing and was found dead on the upper floors,” said a source close to the investigation.
Twenty-nine people were treated for injuries. They were evacuated to a gymnasium in the town.
Cause of fire unknown
The alert was given around 1 p.m. by a resident of the building. The fire started in a third-floor apartment and spread to two neighboring apartments. It was extinguished shortly after 2 p.m. and mobilized 120 firefighters.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
