Val-de-Marne: 18 cities affected by the wearing of compulsory masks

“The rapid worsening of the situation reveals an active circulation of the virus. This is what the prefecture of Val-de-Marne wrote on Saturday. She therefore decides, like four other Ile-de-France prefects simultaneously, to make the wearing of a mask compulsory in certain exterior areas “with a very high concentration of people”.

The decree signed this Saturday will apply from Monday morning, and will concern 27 sites in 18 towns of the department

.

Why ?

Everything starts from a simple observation on the side of the Val-de-Marne authorities: the coronavirus at the origin of the Covid-19 disease “particularly affects the territory”, where “several epidemic outbreaks” have been identified in recent weeks .

And the latest figures are not good: a little more than 27 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants were thus identified on Friday, “a marked increase compared to the week of July 20” (15 per 100,000). Knowing that the “vigilance threshold” set at 20 per 100,000…

The test positivity rate – from 2.7% in the last week of July – is also climbing. However, “a massive influx of patients would be likely to deteriorate the capacities of the medical system”, judge the services of the State. And as it is up to the prefect Raymond Le Deun to “prevent the risk of spreading infections”, the latter toughens his tone.

Comment ?

The summer period favors walks, flea markets and garage sales. However, systematic compliance with barrier gestures is made difficult there in the event of high traffic.

Wearing a mask will therefore be compulsory from 11 years old in public spaces identified as giving rise to “important meetings and mixing of people”. Targeted ? The markets mainly, but also the edges of the Marne and the streets made pedestrian.
