Vagina ‘muddy’ or frequent vaginal discharge, is it normal?

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Almost all women have felt whiteness. But, what if the thick fluid often comes out and makes the intimate organs so muddy?

Vaginal discharge is a condition in which a thick white mucus discharges from the vagina.

Basically, vaginal discharge is normal. This fluid is naturally produced by glands in the vagina and cervix or cervix which is useful for maintaining the health and humidity of the female sex organs from infection and irritation.

Even so, a skin and genital specialist from Pramudia Clinic Amelia Soebyanto said, women often feel uncomfortable and worried when this vaginal discharge comes out of the vaginal opening. Because, it can not be denied, although natural, but this fluid can be a sign of something wrong in the vagina.

“White discharge is a natural thing, but it could be unnatural if this vaginal discharge is not normal. Women should know that there are two types of vaginal discharge, normal and abnormal,” said Amelia in a webinar about Peel Completely Genital Warts, some time ago.

Normal vaginal discharge generally occurs a week or two before menstruation. Normal vaginal discharge will also not emit a pungent odor and is colorless.

“The color is only thick white, not leading to a bit of brown,” he said.

Meanwhile, in abnormal vaginal discharge, smell and color will be the main indicators. In addition, fluid that comes out more than usual also indicates abnormal vaginal discharge.

When vaginal discharge indicates a problem, the discharge will have a slightly brownish color and emit an unpleasant odor.

The cause can be due to bacterial infection, fungus, or symptoms of menopause. Another thing that can also be felt when you experience abnormal vaginal discharge is itching and burning around the vagina to pain when urinating.

Can certain foods cause excessive vaginal discharge or vaginal discharge?

Amelia said, basically there are no foods that cause excessive vaginal fluid production. Admittedly, there are indeed many myths that develop in society regarding this matter.

According to Amelia, as long as a person maintains vaginal hygiene, vaginal discharge will remain normal even if you eat cucumber or pineapple.

“Trust, able toappears when eating cucumber, for example, can make [vagina] muddy. It’s actually not like that. Do not eat cucumber even if the vagina is not healthy, yes, will continue to experience abnormal vaginal discharge,” he said.

Therefore, Amelia suggested that women focus on maintaining vaginal hygiene and not changing sex partners to keep from contracting sexually transmitted diseases.
