The police communicate shortly after midnight that the woman has now been found:
– The lady was found in a helicopter, SAR Queen. She was awake and ready, but cold, police wrote on Twitter.
At 10.45 pm the carabinieri report that they have started a search operation for a demented elderly woman.
– She was supposed to go from an address in Nordvarangerveien to her house, but she didn’t show up. The family reported her missing and we launched a search operation, operations manager Tor Morten Noste told iFinnmark.
The woman is 84 years old, slim, with gray hair, and is wearing a black bubble jacket, black pants and rubber boots.
The police receive assistance from volunteer resources, including the Red Cross and Norwegian rescue dogs.
– Even the helicopter is immediately on its way, says Noste.
Right now it is seven degrees Celsius and a fresh breeze is blowing in Vestre Jacobselv.
The police want information if anyone has seen her. Call the police on 02800.
