Ghajini’s Sutrum Vizhi Soodare is one of the evergreen hit songs in Tamil cinema. A.R. Directed by Murugadoss, the film has Suriya, Asin and Nayanthara in lead roles.
There are people who remember Vadivelu instead of Surya when they hear the song Sutrum Vizhi. Vijay’s remake of Prabhudeva’s film Pokiri with Vadivelu and Suthrum Vizhi was well received. The audience even said that the song has become Vadivelu’s.
Director Mari Selvaraj says that Suriya was troubled by this. Mari Selvaraj jokingly said this in an interview given to Netflix along with Vadivelu as part of the promotion of the film Mamannan.
‘Prabhu Deva told me that Surya was upset that he had deleted that song,’ Mari said with a laugh.
Vadivelu’s response to this was that he was not the reason. ‘Brinda Master asked me about this. They shot the song in 15 days. He asked if our song has been made into your song. I said that it was not because of me, but did I go and ask Prabhudeva. Prabhu Deva laughed and fell on the ground while I was playing the open hand step during the shoot,’ Vadivelu said.
On the other hand, Mamannan, in which both of them came together, hit the theaters last June. The film, which talked about Dalit politics, was a commercial success as well as an audience favorite. Apart from Vadivelu, Udayanidhi Stalin, Fahadh Faasil and Keerthy Suresh also appeared in the film in lead roles.
