In the spirit of giving continuity to various prevention actions against infectious diseases in the pediatric population and promoting a safe return to school for the pediatric population on the Island, the Department of Health (DS) visits the towns with the initiative VacuGira to promote that students have up-to-date immunizations.

At the event, the DS Immunization Program staff will provide parents, caregivers, or guardians with the official immunization record –green paper– cost free. There will be vaccination stations for those minors who have not been vaccinated or who need to complete a dose. All required immunizations for students up to age 21 will be available.

“With the VacuGira we promote the exercise that students are up to date with the vaccination schedule with their recommended vaccines that help prevent infectious diseases, health complications and the resurgence of outbreaks,” said the Chief Medical Officer, Iris Cardona. The doctor highlighted the importance of providing children and young people with comprehensive health and maintaining safe spaces for their well-being. “In this sense, we continue with prioritized actions that result in generating protection.”

The VacuGira will arrive at the Luis Muñoz Marín Park in the Municipality of San Juan on July 30 from 12:00 am to 4:00 pm, on August 5 at the Municipal Public Library in Ceiba and simultaneously in Patillas where they will be at the Terminal de Carros Públicos, both events will be from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Also, they will be in Ponce at the Salvador Dijols Coliseum, on August 16 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

They were recently in Bayamón, Sabana Grande and today, July 29, they are at the Agustín Reyes Flores Athletic Track in San Lorenzo until 3:00 pm
