Václav Varaďa commented on his website about the unexpected end on the bench of extra-league Pardubice. “I respect the owner’s right to choose a coach, but I cannot agree with the justification for the end of my engagement,” he wrote, among other things.
“The end of my engagement in Pardubice was surprising for me,” Varaďa does not hide. After all, he was fired despite the fact that he did not score in only three games out of 35 with Dynamo for the entire season so far.
“I leave feeling a job well done. Dynamo is on its way to first place after the regular season, has the most goals scored and the fewest conceded, is the best in power plays, in a number of matches – most recently on Wednesday at Sparta – the players have shown that the path we have taken together and which I always believe it leads to attractive hockey, the fulfillment of goals and successes,” writes Varaďa in his blog.
“We showed the players that only daily maximum work and commitment will help their development and advance them in their career. It was a pleasure to work with the team and I also thank all Dynamo fans for the warm welcome and support. Just like after the end in Třinec, I believe that we will stay in touch with a number of players in the team and I will keep my fingers crossed for their further development,” Varaďa says goodbye to Pardubice, where he arrived last May.
“I am open to discussion and I am by no means a loner. Hockey was, is and will be a team sport, and that applies at all levels.”
He had a contract until 2028, but…
“I respect the owner’s right to choose a coach, but I cannot agree with the justification for the end of my engagement,” Varaďa responds to Pardubice’s statement yesterday.
“I am undoubtedly a demanding and consistent coach, I give everything to hockey, and I demand the same from the players and all members of the implementation team. I believe in my path and I want to influence the sports direction of the team and the development of the players,” he admits. “However, I am open to discussion and I am by no means a loner. Hockey was, is and will be a team sport, and that applies at all levels.”
“Hockey is a tough game, but everyone who knows me knows that I never insult players, colleagues, or opponents, that I always behave correctly and fairly.”
In the press statement, he also denies the alleged non-fulfillment of contractual terms. “Since my playing years, I know what a professional approach is. The NHL is the best school in that regard and I can’t imagine ever missing something or not giving it my all. Don’t really come at me with unprofessionalism and carelessness,” he says.
And in conclusion, he assures: “Hockey is a hard game, but everyone who knows me knows that I never insult players, colleagues, or opponents, that I always behave correctly and fairly. Decency and fair play are the main pillars of my journey. And so it will continue to be, wherever it takes me.”
