Vacek narrowly won the prologue of the Under-23 Peace Race

A 19-year-old native of Beroun Vacek would like to attack the overall victory at the Peace Race. “It probably didn’t go any better today,” praised the rider, who finished sixth in the final standings last year at this stage event.

“I was really looking forward to it, so I tricked it from the beginning, I didn’t run out of energy and it worked out. I know there’s always something better to do, but if you’re one first, then you’re not looking for mistakes. I’m glad the prologue came out. that I can do it on the plain and uphill, in the next stages it will probably turn out well again, “Vacek added.

The first of the three classic stages of this year’s Peace Race will lead from Jeseník to Rýmařov on Friday. In the hilly profile, cyclists cover 131.6 kilometers. The decision will probably be made on Saturday during the double ascent from Bruntál on Dlouhá stráně. The Czechia has been waiting for the podium in the overall standings since 2017, when Michal Schlegel was third.
