The coronavirus vaccine, edited by AstraZeneca and developed by the University of Oxford, in collaboration with the IRBM of Pomezia,
it will not arrive any time soon. Pascal Soriot, the CEO of the pharmaceutical company, has it admitted in a’Bloomberg interview: the first doubts came after the admission of a error in dosage of administrations, on the occasion of clinical tests, following which treatment efficacy of up to 90% was recorded.
A small tranche of volunteers, about 2300 people, received – without having planned it – it first vaccination dose halved (and the second correct), while the other part of 8900 volunteers both sides correct. Paradoxically, in the first case theeffectiveness of the potential vaccine was found to be del 90%, while in the second 62%.
Consequently, the whole test is to be repeated; moreover, there is also another problem, dictated by the fact that the first slice of tested was made up of citizens with less than 55 years old, a category that presents lower risks of developing the coronavirus, effectively altering the outcome of the vaccination campaign.
In light of these considerations, it is highly probable that the US authorities do not give the ok for emergency use, considering that the optimal quantity has been proposed only to just over 2 thousand users, a really too small number to be able to promote a new drug.
